Prices are mid-range estimates for central Florida. Your actual quote may vary based on soil prep and site access.
Better roots from day one
Hydroseeded grass grows directly in your soil — so roots go deep immediately. Sod arrives already grown somewhere else, meaning it has to re-root after transplant. Florida's summer heat makes that hard. Hydroseeding skips the transplant shock entirely.
Built for new construction
After a house is framed, you're left with bare sandy Florida soil. Hydroseeding covers it in hours, not days. No pallet deliveries to coordinate, no sod crew to manage, no leftover scraps. One truck, one visit, done — so you can move to the next phase.
Made for Florida's sandy soil
Bahia and Bermuda are specifically bred for sandy, low-nutrient soils just like what you'll find across Citrus, Marion, and Hernando counties. Once established, they go deep to find water — which means they'll stay green through droughts that kill transplanted sod.
Side by side
Sod isn't always wrong. Here's where each one wins — so you can make the right call for your yard.
| Factor | ✓ Hydroseeding | Sod installed |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per sq ft | $0.06–$0.10 | $0.87–$1.76 |
| Visible results | 7–21 days to first sprouts | Instant (green day one) |
| Usable lawn | 4–6 weeks | 2–3 weeks |
| Root depth & drought resistance | Deep natural roots — excellent | Shallow transplant roots |
| Works on slopes & banks | Yes — tackifier locks seed in place | Slides without staking |
| Large lots (>¼ acre) | Ideal — cost advantage grows | Extremely expensive at scale |
| St. Augustine or Zoysia | Not available as seed | Only option for these varieties |
| Home going on market this week | Needs 4–6 weeks to establish | Instant curb appeal |
| Maintenance year 1 | Lower — established in native soil | Higher watering to prevent die-off |
How it works
Free quote in 24 hours
Call or text your address and square footage. We turn a quote around within 24 hours — no site visit needed for most standard lots.
We prep the ground
Light grading and soil scarification for better seed contact. On new builder lots, this is minimal — we work with your existing grade.
Spray day — one truck, one visit
We apply a custom slurry of seed, wood fiber mulch, starter fertilizer, and tackifier in a single uniform pass. Most lots are done in 2–4 hours.
Water and watch it grow
We give you a simple care sheet — water twice a day for the first two weeks. Bermuda shows in 7–14 days, Bahia in 21–28. Then you're done.
Florida seed guide
We recommend the right mix for your soil, lot size, and how much maintenance you want. Here's the breakdown.
Pensacola Bahia
Best for large lots & acreageThe most drought-tolerant grass in Florida. Deep roots handle Citrus County's sandy soil better than anything else. Low maintenance, self-seeds over time, and thrives with minimal irrigation once established. Our top choice for rural and acreage properties.
Argentine Bahia
Premium residential lawnsDarker, denser, and finer than Pensacola — creates a noticeably better-looking lawn. Higher germination rate (85–90%) means faster visible results. The upgrade pick when you want a traditional-looking residential lawn on a hydroseeding budget.
Common Bermuda
Fastest growing — lawns, fields & parksIf speed matters most, Bermuda is your grass. It's dark green, handles foot traffic, and looks sharp. Great for families with kids and pets, or any yard where appearance is the priority. Does need slightly more maintenance than Bahia.
Annual Ryegrass (overseed)
Winter green — applied Oct–NovBahia and Bermuda go tan in winter. Ryegrass overseeding keeps your lawn vivid green all the way through March. We spray it over your dormant lawn each fall — it germinates in 5–10 days and dies back naturally when the heat returns in spring. No removal needed.
